This weekend the Silicon Milkroundabout is once again descending on TechCity.  It will be a star-studded event drawing dot-com A-Listers including the likes of Twitter, SongkickMoo, Wonga, Mozilla and Moshi Monsters all with a unanimous aim; to land the brightest and the best Tech and Engineering graduates.

This fantastic job fair is the only one of its kind and an invaluable opportunity for those interested in software engineering, web development, QA/testing, tech ops, product management, UX design, visual design, game design, or business intelligence and analytics to land a job with some of the zaniest UK startups.

Where
The Old Truman Brewery, T1 space
Entry at 81 Brick Lane, E1 6QL, London

When
Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th May 2012
12pm – 5pm

Now listen closely grads! The job market for technology graduates is booming. Not only are there are 4,167 graduate technical jobs currently available in the UK, but there are also just under 2 applicants for every graduate tech vacancy. Compare this to the UK average of 50 applicants per graduate position and it’s clear the odds are in your favour in Tech.  Furthermore of these jobs, 31% are in London so get your butts down to the Milkroundabout.

We reckon the winds are changing in the graduate job market. In the race for the most attractive graduate role; startup positions are fast closing in on the traditional banking role. Despite the fact that banking graduates are likely to land a higher paying salary, working with startups has many upsides. There are over 800 positions on offer this weekend starting at £21k and ranging all the way  up to £60k. Remember, in start up world, the cherry on the top of this amazing opportunity Sundae is that over a quarter of the companies hiring at the MilkRoundabout are offering stock to graduate tech employee. Take inspiration from David Choe, the homeless American Street Artist who got paid in shares instead of cash for painting Facebook’s offices back in the day.  He’s now worth $200 Million.  Not bad for a days work.

“What are startups looking for?” we hear you ask.  2012 is seeing massive growth in new “tech terminology” in job ads. Graduates looking to get a head start should be clued up on – “Big Data“, “Social Discovery“, “Augmented Reality“, “Mobile Payments” and the “OpenGraph“.  Mobile technology is a real hotspot with demand for mobile developers up 65% year on year for Android developers and up over 100% for iPhone and iPad developers.  Graduate Objective-C developers are able to demand starting salaries of £41,327, 23% higher than the average technical graduate job.

There will be over 800 jobs on offer for graduate technology Ninjas, Gurus and even the occasional Jedi. There are a limited 1,500 tickets for each day of the event. Saturday is for Product Management and Design and Sunday is dedicated to Engineering. This year we’ve teamed up with Songkick to spread the word about this fantastic event, but to also champion British entrepreneurialism and startups. Hope to see you there. To register simply go to the Silicon Milkroundabout website and ‘click’ on the big green button.  You’d be foolish to miss out!
